Happy Halloween From the ghouls at Well Spread

It's Halloween. Yay. Psych! that was sarcasm. The one night a year it's totally acceptable to sit at your front door and people watch as you drink your wine and pretend you like to hand out candy to kids who generally forget to say Thank You, as you wait for your probably equally as gracious kids to come home from running a muck in your neighborhood all evening. What a magical night! Except, plot twist, we have a gaggle of kids between us, and apparently each of them is trick or treating in different neighborhoods. With different friend groups. At different times. So there's that. Boooo, and not the one a ghost says.

So instead of sitting cozily at home passing out Reese's and silently judging what some parents let their kids go out of the house in, we are just chauffeurs in a what I'm assuming will be a trending costume of " Exhausted, underpaid Uber Driver" No it's not a trick, and at least you can be treated to the fistful of nuts you find at the bottom of your handbag as you play car ping pong between all your stops! Fantasizing that the kids make the right candy choices and get you plenty of your favorite kind. Their favorite kind, I meant Their!! Pheww I think I covered my tracks, no one is on to me!

While we're juggling that chaos, we're also anxiously refreshing our inbox waiting for our tracking updates on our Merch delivery. Why are you doing Merch, you just launched a few weeks ago and are brand spanking new?? Because somehow, without even meaning to, we accidentally stumbled into the clothing business.

When we first made our sweatshirts, they were just for us. We thought they were funny and cute and wanted something cozy to promote our brand when we did content, worked holiday markets or pop ups. Then people started asking, "Wait...are you selling those?" And we were like "Uhh..no? Wait should we?" We'd already trademarked the name on everything, so why not use it right?

Cut to: us ordering about 17 different sweatshirts off Amazon trying to find the actual drop-shoulder oversized fit instead of those big, boxy, not really working for anyone's body type ones. That hunt alone could've been a full-time job. But we finally found the right one, tracked down the best manufacturer (different post), navigated the wild word of virtual design jargon and now...finally...they're on their way. The best part? Half of our friends were like,"Yea we don't care about hosting, nor do we charcuterie, just tell us when those sweatshirts drop!!!"

And then there is our "Well Spread Girl." She was never supposed to be a focal point. We made her as joke after hearing one too many "We love the name Well Spread...so cute for a grazing table...we get it! Like a big awesome spread! So clever!! Buuttt you know what else it makes me think of....lol" insert ya dirty minded comment here. Instead of pretending we didn't hear it, we leaned in! Because if there's one thing we are, it's funny, and we definitely don't take ourselves too seriously. So we trademarked her too. Now she's on our hats. And, somehow, we have another crowd of people who care less about our templates but are first in line for merch. So, yea...we're in the clothing business. Accidentally. But we're not mad about it.

Between all that, we've been brainstorming new board ideas, pulling inspo from trends (hello butter boards) and figuring out ways to make our templates smarter and even more cost efficient to build out. We want people to reuse ingredients across boards so you're not buying the full grocery list every time you host. We want your pantries to have different leftover items you can grab from. Because let's be honest, we all have that one half-used jar of fig jam that deserves a second chance.

Each one of our full templates can easily feed around 20+ people which already feels like a steal compared to those $250 pre-made boards that are basically the size of a dinner plate. We always laugh when we see these stunning (AI assisted) charcuterie boards that we know took way too long and way too much to make only to feed a family of dieting rabbits. Or maybe just a young couple of rabbits who were waiting to start a family. Point being, we not only want our boards to be beautiful BUT we also want your guests to be Well Fed...thats the point of Well Spread (see what i did there). Look beautiful, be easy, and serve an actual purpose. To feed people!! Not force them to hit a drive thru on the way home from your party because they are starving and weren't sure if they were supposed to eat that fig or just look at it?! We aren't just a snack over here...we are the whole meal! Ooohh I like that, I think that may be a new tagline!

But the best part about us is you get to make it your own!! One customer used our Halloween template and swapped the mini coffin platter we had on it for a bat shaped platter they already had...and not going to lie, it looked amazing. Thats the whole point! These blueprints are meant to inspire not boss you around. So you do you! Color outside the lines! Ok well not really because staying in the lines is kind of the point...

We're figuring it out as we go: building, creating, laughing, panicking a little, but mostly having fun. So while our kids are running wild tonight collecting candy ( for themselves, not us...geez so judgy!) we'll be the tired moms in the car drinking our 4th Starbucks of the day and hitting refresh on our tracking updates every second.
