Pop Up Madness and Champagne dreams

If there is one thing you should know about Well Spread by now, it's this: we thrive in chaos, but we refuse to show up looking anything but dope. At least our setup anyway, I never learned how to really do hair or makeup so I'm winning when I don't look like a straight troll. But I digress...

This week was a big one - our very first pop-up! And thank God for Bailey's mom, Teri, because she showed up, rolled up her sleeves, and helped us get our shit together before we had to face the public. Even gave us a great idea for our packaging we already have implemented and are running with! I don't care how old you are...you always need your mom!

After Bailey hand-painted our poster (Queen of arts & crafts) the 3 of us spent the week figuring out how to make our backdrop actually pop, assembling a mountain of charcuterie skewers, -naturally- taste testing the prosecco. Because listen, at Well Spread we take quality control very seriously around here!

So we got to this point, admittedly somewhat unexpectedly, because one of our friends mentioned her company does an annual Holiday Market and thought it would be a great jumping off point for us to get our feet wet for pop-up type of selling events. We had absolutely zero clue what we were doing but in true Bailey and Jenna fashion we thought "why the hell not!"

And honestly? It was amazing. Talking to real customers face-to-face, hearing their questions, opinions, and excitement about our products - that was huge for us. We learned a ton, made mental notes for how we can make the next time even better and feel more confident heading into out next event, (whenever we decide that next chaos storm should come around).

One thing that's defiantly not changing? The charcuterie skewers and prosecco. Yes, most of the people who took them also bought something with us, but there were a few people who turned the corner, grabbed one and didn't make eye contact. Like please don't say anything and let me have this. I mean the skewers were a hit but the prosecco was everything. People always appreciate free alcohol in a setting like that. It elevates the shopping experience(and opens the wallet, guilty as charged!)...pretty much all experiences in my humble opinion. One of those people who appreciated it was a dad chasing 4 kids by himself, he grabbed one, gave a little smile and kept walking. It made me smile, he had no time to talk about the templates but hopefully that little glass of alcohol provided him with a minute of solace before returning to chasing after his kids! I almost wanted to chase him down and tell him to "just take the bottle...you seem like like you may need it more than us right now!" lol maybe next time we will have some beer or hard cider for the dads too! lol

One of the highlights for us for sure was when other vendors came up to us asking about our product because they overheard some customers talking about it. One vendor from the opposite side of the building said "OMG, we had to come see what everyone was talking about! And our booth is NOT CLOSE to here so they have been talking about it for a while I guess! I had to come see what all the fuss was about!" And then she bought 2 so I guess the fuss was real! Does this mean we went viral in person...someone needs to make a word for that.. like being a virus? Haha I'm sure there are plenty of people who think I'm like a virus but not in a good way so maybe that's not the best wording. I'll think that one over.

Bailey has always said "word of mouth will be our biggest selling point" And after this pop-up, we're trying to double down on that energy.

We've got a couple meetings in the works for brick and mortars who want to carry our templates. Some that approached us and some that we thought we could have a mutually beneficial relationship with, and we are excited to see how we can make Well Spread work into their vision. So we are growing folks....slowly? Yes! But growing none the less so its all good on our end. We are proud of what we have built and are now digging in trying to make our social reflective of what we think our business needs to be. Still the hardest part for us, not going to lie.

We've already designed our next 4 months worth of templates and we are going to be working hard in that time to build up our socials (pray for us) and to have them grow organically. To try and make things a little less chaotic (if that's even possible)- we're looking into a streamlined weekly content calendar. We have how we want to start doing it, now its just a matter of actually doing the videos and pulling it off.

Mashup Mondays

Things that shouldn't go together but somehow do- like cheese and honey, chocolate and pepper, or Bailey and I with hour husbands.

ree

And also things that were literally just made for each other- like goat cheese and fig jam, tomatoes and mozzarella, or Bail and I's friendship and our highly inappropriate humor.

All brought to you by the musical stylings of Dj BSmooth, the best retired NBA player turned non-professional DJ (and non paid), the world has ever seen.

Template Tuesdays

All things blueprints: before and after's, board-specific mini recipes, sped-up build outs, and that satisfying behind the scenes magic.

Blooper Thursdays

If there's ONE thing you can count on...It's that Bailey and I will absolutely mess something up. Usually not our cooking but mostly because of our stupid mouths and our uncontrollable Adult ADD ( yes we both actually have it) that has us looking like flies at a picnic hopping from one point to another completely off track as my poor husband tries to corral us long enough to get one useable video out of it. We are entertainingly unprofessional and are just going to lean all the way into it. We mess up as much as we get it right- so might as well share that nonsense with you.

Shoppin' Sundays

Our amazon finds we love, that we either use with our templates, use to make the stuff that goes on the templates, or just use because its awesome and we cant live without it. Again turning grapes into wine because our husbands already get pissed with how much we get from there so may as well get some footage out of it. We may throw in some tips and tricks we use to entertain and host without losing our minds.

So stick with us...we're getting our act together, or trying to at least. But the chaos is part of the charm, at least that's what we keep telling ourselves. The templates, the bloopers the merch, its all coming. (Yes our merch missed our pop-up by 3 days! UUGGGHHHH, but we are making it work) But we are glad you are joining us for the ride!
